MADISON – Today, Senate Republicans moved multiple bills forward affecting Wisconsin’s sporting heritage, despite the bewilderment from sportsmen and women and conservation organizations.

Sen. Jeff Smith (D – Brunswick) released the following statement in response to the Senate floor period:

“These bills are an obvious distraction from Republicans’ efforts to pass more gerrymandered maps. If Republicans were serious about supporting our sportsmen and women, they would restore the rights of Wisconsin Conservation Congress and listen to what our own hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts want.

“This package of bills offers a glimpse as to what Wisconsinites can expect for the next decade if Republicans get away with their gerrymander 2.0. Wisconsinites deserve to have their voices heard—through Conservation Congress and through fair maps.”
