(MADISON) – Today, Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement, regarding the death of 3 year-old Major Harris:

“We all felt a collective kick to the gut today. You just don’t know whether to cry or scream at  the senseless death of Major Harris and so many more children. We’ve had a five year-old killed  over a piece of cheesecake, a child shot and killed while riding in the back of a car, and a 6 year old child stabbed and bruised from head to toe. It’s been overwhelming.”

“I wasn’t the Senator today, I was simply a mother who loves my son. A person, who in the midst  of unthinkable sadness, prayed for peace for Major’s soul. Today, I clung to my faith because I  had nothing else I could do for Major and the other children who have been harmed or killed.  Tomorrow, we must all continue the fight to create safer communities and homes for Wisconsin’s  children.”

“I offer my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of those impacted by this violence.”
