Pecatonica School District Superintendent Jill Underly and former Brown Deer School District Superintendent Deborah Kerr will face off in the April 6 spring general election after winning the top two spots in the state schools superintendent primary.

Underly edged out Kerr as the two advanced out of the low-turnout seven-way Feb. 16 primary.

Past work experience highlights: Assistant director and educational assistant at DPI, senior student services director and advising dean at UW-Madison, teacher at two Indiana high schools and elementary school principal at Pecatonica School District.
Current position: Superintendent of Pecatonica School District.
Education: Ph.D in philosophy, educational leadership and policy analysis from UW-Madison, M.S. in educational leadership and administration from UW-Madison, M.S. in secondary education and teaching from Purdue University, B.A. in history and sociology from Indiana University in Bloomington.


Deborah Kerr

Past work experience highlights: Co-chair of the UW System Task Force, adjunct professor at local universities, athletic director, physical education teacher, middle school principal, assistant principal, founding member of Women Leading Wisconsin, founding member of the Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium and president of North Shore Rotary Club.
Most recent position: Superintendent of Brown Deer School District.
Education: Ed.D in educational leadership from National Louis University, M.A. in educational leadership and administration from University of Alaska Fairbanks.
