Washington, D.C. — As states begin to draw new congressional and state legislative districts this year, many legislatures are already beginning to aggressively gerrymander districts, ensuring that communities of color and other marginalized constituencies have less representation over the next decade. These efforts underscore the need for the Freedom to Vote Act, to end partisan gerrymandering of federal districts and ensure that voters are the only ones choosing their elected officials.

Please join the Center for American Progress Action Fund for a discussion with state attorneys general about the different redistricting processes in states, the effect partisan gerrymandering has had on their states, and the need for federal reform.
