Fitzgerald Signs onto Resolution Congratulating Bucks 2021 NBA Championship

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) joined his House colleagues in the Wisconsin delegation in a resolution to congratulate the Milwaukee Bucks on their 2021 NBA Championship win.

The Bucks clinched their first NBA title since 1971 in a hard-fought battle against the Phoenix Suns after making a four-game run to defeat the Suns. They are also the fifth team in NBA history to win the championship after trailing 2-0 in the series, and the first team to do it by then winning the next four games since Miami against Dallas in 2006, according to AP News.

“After a tough year of pandemic-imposed shutdowns, the Milwaukee Bucks have reignited Wisconsinites’ spirit from the Deer District throughout the entire state. Bucks fans have waited 50 years for another championship win, and to clinch the title on our home turf was the cherry on top. My congratulations go out to the entire team for their hard work all season, as a Bucks fan myself, it’s been an exciting journey to watch,” said Congressman Fitzgerald.

BACKGROUND

Congressman Fitzgerald played a pivotal role in keeping the Milwaukee Bucks in Wisconsin and securing a financing plan to build the Fiserv Forum in 2015 when the future of the team was in limbo. The financing plan came at no additional tax to the people of Wisconsin and has since ushered in jobs and economic prosperity for the state.
