WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) released the following statement after Intel apologized to the Chinese Communist Party for telling its suppliers not to use products made from slave labor in Xinjiang.
“Intel’s hostage statement is only the latest example of the company bending over backwards to placate the Chinese Communist Party. Semiconductors are central to our national security and the future of our economy, and it is no longer feasible for the industry to play both sides of the US-China completion. The federal government is poised to make enormous taxpayer investments to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the US. While domestic fab expansion is long overdue, it cannot go hand in hand with those same companies doubling down on the Chinese market. It is time for the industry to choose.”
