WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today was selected by House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Mike Rogers (R-AL) to serve as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. The subcommittee is responsible for military personnel policy, military education, military healthcare, Reserve Component integration and employment issues, and POW/MIA issues.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. There is nothing more important than ensuring our service members have the resources they need to keep us safe, particularly in light of the growing threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party,” said Rep. Gallagher. “As I take on this new role, I will be guided by the words of Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1 Warfighting, which reminds us the military has two basic functions: ‘…waging war and preparing for war. Any military activities that do not contribute to the conduct of a present war are justifiable only if they contribute to preparedness for a possible future one.’ I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the Department is laser-focused on performing these functions and training our service members to be warriors – not wokesters.”
Ranking Member Rogers additionally announced that Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) would serve as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems.
Upon making the announcements, Ranking Member Rogers said, “I am pleased to announce that Representatives Jim Banks (R-IN) and Mike Gallagher (R-WI) will be taking on new and important roles on the House Armed Services Committee. Rep. Banks will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems and Rep. Gallagher will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. I am pleased to have two combat veterans in these roles. I have the upmost confidence that Representatives Banks and Gallagher will continue to be outstanding leaders as we work to strengthen our national defense and modernize our military to combat our rising adversaries.”
