WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after voting against the Continuing Resolution.
“In September, Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer said, ‘Both Republicans and Democrats have priorities they want to see addressed in the regular order appropriations process for Fiscal Year 2022, and an extension of government funding through December will provide an appropriate amount of time for that bipartisan, bicameral process to come to completion.’ December is here, but to no one’s surprise, Congress is nowhere close to completing this ‘bipartisan, bicameral process.’
“This is because Congress has spent the past two months on vacation or debating radical policies that commonsense Americans do not want. If the past few weeks were any indicator, passing this Continuing Resolution will only lead to more of the same. This is a complete failure and no way to run a government.
“It has been 25 years since Congress has passed its appropriations bills on time. We must take this responsibility seriously and get to work. That starts with stopping Continuing Resolutions and keeping members in DC until we’ve done our jobs and passed appropriations bills.”
