(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-06) released the following statement after violence escalated between Israel and Hamas.
“Hamas has decided to continue the completely irresponsible, outlandish, and criminal behavior that they choose to exercise from time to time ever since Israel left Gaza in 2005,” said Grothman. “Hamas has decided that tearing down Israeli infrastructure, that would otherwise be helpful to residents, and indiscriminately killing Israeli civilians to try to impress their people and allies is more important than creating a stable place for children to grow up and adults to thrive.
“Sadly, but not surprisingly for those familiar with their tactics, Hamas retreats to residential buildings after carrying out their attacks. They do this with the goal of forcing any retribution to kill innocent civilians. This tactic is documented and nothing but a ploy to make Israel look heartless.
“Israel has been very patient for the first few days of these attacks. The United States and all civilized countries should stand with Israel as they respond to the violence perpetrated by Hamas.
“No country in the world would tolerate this—the Unites State would not tolerate this—if rockets were flying in from a neighboring country at such an alarming rate.
“We are praying for Israel and its citizens as they respond to the indiscriminate killing of their civilians being carried out fecklessly by Hamas.”
