Washington, DC— Today, Rep. Ron Kind voted for a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to use his powers under section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments in the Cabinet and remove President Donald Trump from office. This comes after President Trump incited a violent insurrection at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“Like most Wisconsinites, I was horrified by the events of January 6th. It is unconscionable that a sitting United States President incited a violent insurrection against our democracy by peddling a steady stream of lies about our election and calling to overturn the will of the voters,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “Given his actions and his rhetoric, President Trump poses a clear and present danger to our Republic. If President Trump has any decency left, he should resign, otherwise, Vice President Pence should put country before self and immediately invoke the 25th Amendment to ensure a peaceful transfer of power. If he does not, we will have no choice left but to impeach President Trump.”

Last week, Rep. Kind called on President Trump to step down and for Vice President Pence to serve the remainder of the term.
