Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ron Kind is encouraging Wisconsinites to take advantage of the Open Enrollment period as December 15 is the last day to sign up for health care coverage that begins on January 1, 2022.

“I want to encourage all Wisconsinites to explore their coverage options during the Open Enrollment period and sign up for quality, affordable health care ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. While Open Enrollment doesn’t close until January 15, December 15 is the last day to sign up for coverage that begins on January 1, 2022. Now is the best time to make changes to your current health care plan and compare options to make sure it’s the best fit for you,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “Thanks to the American Rescue Plan, coverage is even more affordable than ever. Take advantage of these savings and sign up today at HealthCare.gov.”

Right now, premiums are significantly lower through the American Rescue Plan, which was passed by Democrats in Congress and signed into law by President Biden in March. In Wisconsin, there are approximately 212,000 adults who may be eligible for premium tax credits and 146,000 of whom may be able to find a plan at HealthCare.gov for $50 per month or less.

If Wisconsinites have questions about signing up or want to talk through their options with a trained professional, they can call 211 or visit GetCovered.WI.gov. If anyone has questions about how to access resources or needs to be put in touch with the right person to help them sign up, they can call Rep. Kind’s office at 1-608-782-2558 or visit kind.house.gov.
