Washington, DC – Tonight, Rep. Ron Kind released the following statement after voting to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress for his refusal to comply with a subpoena issued by the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the United States Capitol:

“January 6 was one of our nation’s darkest days. Our democracy was attacked, law enforcement officers were brutalized, and lives were lost. We need to know how and why this violent insurrection took place so that we can ensure this never happens again. To that end, Mark Meadows owes the American people answers – anything less is unacceptable. His decision to stonewall the bipartisan January 6 Committee and hinder efforts to find the truth has forced us to take action today. No one is above the law.”

Rep. Kind voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress on October 21, 2021 for ignoring a subpoena from the Select Committee.
