Congresswoman Gwen Moore Encourages Milwaukee Residents to Attend July 10th’s Free Tax Prep Day
Congresswoman Moore encourages Milwaukee residents who are parents and do not normally need to file a tax return to attend a free IRS tax prep session tomorrow on how to receive Advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments they might be eligible for. She released the following statement:
“The expanded CTC payments can help an estimated 93.6% of children in Milwaukee, and I want to make sure every eligible family receives these benefits. Usually, this help is only available at tax time but for this year, parents have an option to receive this assistance in monthly payments, starting this month! For every child, your family may receive between $250-$300 per month. That money could make all the difference!”
“If you haven’t filed a tax return and haven’t used the IRS non-filer portal to receive stimulus checks in the past, the IRS is hosting a Free Tax Prep Day tomorrow on Saturday, July 10th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT at the IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center that can help your family receive these monthly Child Tax Credit payments.”
Where: IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center, 211 W Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53203
When: Tomorrow, July 10th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT
What to bring: A government-issued ID, Social Security card, and other work and benefit documents (like W-2 form and SSA-1099)
The American Rescue Plan (ARP) expanded the Child Tax Credit to $3,600 for each child under 6 and to $3,000 for each child between ages 6 and 17 (up from $2,000). The ARP also made this benefit fully refundable, which will help some of most vulnerable families the most.
