WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02) voted last night to pass H.R. 1, the For the People Act, a sweeping anti-corruption package that will protect and expand voting rights, combat voter suppression, strengthen vote by mail and early voting, mandate the disclosure of dark money contributions, and much more.

“The House just passed the most comprehensive election and ethics reform package ever introduced in Congress,” said Congressman Pocan. “It is no secret that our democracy is under attack by people who champion voter suppression and misinformation—the For the People Act is the greatest investment we can make to protect our democracy and put the needs of the American people above corporate and special interests. As members elected to represent our constituents, we should be doing everything in our power to ensure they have equal access to our democracy.”

“Congressman Mark Pocan has been a longtime leader in the House on standing up to special interests and making Washington work better for Wisconsin families,” said Tiffany Muller, President of End Citizens United. “His commitment to getting dark money out of politics, cracking down on corruption, protecting the right to vote and ensuring elections are accurate has propelled the For the People Act into passage. We’re grateful to be in the fight alongside him to safeguard and strengthen our democracy.”
