WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) appointed Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) to serve as the Ranking Member of the Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth.
“My priorities on the select committee are to support all workers, empower families, and strengthen our economy with pro-growth legislation. Our nation is at a crossroads. We can continue down the current path of big government, socialist policies or change course. I will advocate for policies to ensure everyone can sit down at the dinner table feeling financially secure. By prioritizing our workforce and getting government out of the way, we can create family-supporting jobs. I look forward to bringing commonsense solutions to solve issues impacting rural, suburban, and urban communities. Thank you to Leader McCarthy for this appointment. Let’s get to work,” said Congressman Steil.
“The health of our economy has been jeopardized by the Biden administration’s strategy of massive spending and more government control. As a result, Americans are paying the highest consumer prices they have paid since 2008 – this is a tax on all Americans that will continue to burden working families the worst. Now is the time for Congress to work on pro-growth policies that will get our economy back on track, and help make the American Dream even more accessible to our citizens,” said Leader McCarthy.
“As a member of the House Financial Services Committee who has dedicated his time in Congress to supporting workers and entrepreneurs, Bryan Steil is the ideal member to serve as the House Republican representative on this select committee. He has spent his entire Congressional career identifying innovative solutions to growing jobs and creating opportunities, which included authoring the Expanding Investment in Small Businesses Act, legislation that helps small business owners hire workers and create jobs. I know that Bryan will use his vast experience and passion to ensure we are passing the right economic policies that will help our families achieve economic prosperity,” continued Leader McCarthy.
Steil is also a member of the House Financial Services Committee and Committee on House Administration. Steil is currently serving his second term in Congress.
