Green Bay, Wis.—Bucking trends in the state and in higher education, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is once again seeing an enrollment gain, this year on all four of its campuses (Green Bay, Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan). Preliminary data was released by the UW System today and showed a three percent overall enrollment gain for UW-Green Bay from last year at this time. It’s the sixth straight year of enrollment gain for the University.

UW-Green Bay saw gains in a number of key areas:

  • Graduate Studies: 12% increase
  • New Freshmen: Four percent increase at Green Bay Campus; three percent gain at Marinette, Manitowoc and Sheboygan Campuses
  • Total Enrollment (four locations): Increase of 313 students or three percent gain

According to UW-Green Bay Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kate Burns, the University’s mission continues to provide opportunities for students to be successful, while offering specific programs and pathways that meet regional and workforce demands.

“We pride ourselves in our resiliency and devotion to supporting Northeast Wisconsin,” Burns said. “We recognize that more than 40% of our students are the first of their family to purse a college education. Our faculty and staff work extremely hard at getting students from enrollment to commencement, despite the difficult circumstances that might surround them, especially over the last year.”

Official enrollment headcounts are expected to be released by the UW System in late-October or November. With College Credit in High School students continuing to enroll in the weeks ahead, UW-Green Bay leaders predict an even stronger report when official numbers are released.

The forecast for the future of the University also looks strong, with first-year student applications for fall 2022 trending higher during the opening month than in the previous year.
