Quartz and UW Health Partner to Deliver Second Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine to Vulnerable Populations in Sauk
SAUK CITY, WISCONSIN –– Today, more than four dozen people will receive their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at Quartz’s Sauk City office.
The accomplishment is made possible by a partnership between Quartz and UW Health.
“At UW Health, from the moment vaccines became available, we have focused on vaccine equity, said Shiva Bidar-Sielaff, vice president, chief diversity officer, UW Health. “We are thrilled to partner with Quartz to make vaccines easily accessible.”
Sauk County has the third-highest number of Quartz members who receive assistance through BadgerCare Plus––the state’s health care coverage program for low-income Wisconsin residents. Before today’s event, Quartz and UW Health identified and contacted members from communities of color in Sauk to encourage them to get vaccinated.
“Communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Vaccination rates in those same communities’ lags behind their white counterparts,” said Carola Gaines, Quartz’s BadgerCare Plus community liaison manager. “To make getting vaccinated as easy as possible, we partnered with UW Health to bring the vaccine to them and encourage those community members to get vaccinated.”
Today’s event runs from noon to 5 p.m. The vaccines will be provided free of charge.
