WHAT: Today, Thursday, October 21, faith leaders and immigrant essential workers will hold a vigil outside of Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office to honor all essential workers who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic. Advocates are calling on her to include a path to citizenship for millions in the Build Back Better reconciliation budget bill this year. They will be joined by members of the Overpass Light Brigade who will hold large, illuminated letters spelling out “Citizenship Now!”

WHEN: Thursday, October 21 at 6:00 p.m. CST

WHERE: Outside the office of Senator Tammy Baldwin, 633 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI

The rally and march will also be streamed via Facebook live at facebook.com/VocesdelaFronteraWI.

WHY: The Biden administration promised immigrant communities that they’d pass a path to citizenship their first year in office, and immigrant essential workers, their families and allies have been waiting for them to fulfill this promise ever since. Congressional Democrats in both houses passed the Build Back Better reconciliation bill with $107 billion for a path to citizenship, but the Senate Parliamentarian believes it should not be included in the bill. Democrats have the power to disregard the Senate Parliamentarian’s opinion and keep funding for citizenship in the budget bill.

DESCRIPTION OF VISUALS: Large, illuminated letters spelling out “Citizenship Now”, candles, and home made and printed signs.
