NEW YORK — Vote Mama, the first PAC focused solely on electing Democratic moms, today announced its endorsement of two additional federal candidates running for election to the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives:

  • Sarah Godlewski — United States Senate, Wisconsin

  • Cindy Axne — United States House of Representatives (IA-3)

“Working families need strong advocates in Congress now more than ever. I am so proud to support these candidates who will use their lived experiences as mothers to champion issues like universal childcare and national paid leave at the federal level. We need their voices in Congress to stand up for women, children, and families who have been failed by our policies for generations. These mamas will fight for family-forward policies and work towards a better future for all,” said Vote Mama Founder and CEO Liuba Grechen Shirley.

“I’m so grateful to have earned the support of Vote Mama. Over the last year, it has become clear that our generation of moms does not have a voice in the Senate. We recently saw this with the CARES Act, which resulted in more money supporting Delta Airlines than supporting childcare for working families. We have to get our priorities straight in this country and put workers and families ahead of giant corporations,” said Sarah Godlewski, candidate for United States Senate, Wisconsin.  “For too long, Congress has kicked the can down the road when it comes to making childcare more affordable, creating universal pre-k, and finally establishing paid family leave in this country. I’m ready to fight to get the job done.”

“I’m proud to receive the support of Vote Mama as I continue to represent the Third District of Iowa in Washington. Over the next year, I look forward to continuing to fight for our shared priorities: increasing access to affordable and high-quality healthcare, making sure every child has the chance to succeed with a world-class education, and that every person has the opportunity for a good paying job,” said Congresswoman Cindy Axne, candidate for United States House of Representatives IA-3.

Women, particularly moms of young children, face unique challenges when running for office. Vote Mama seeks to increase the political power of moms by stepping in to disrupt the systems that hold women back through direct financial support, mentorship, and endorsements. As with all of Vote Mama’s endorsed candidates, these candidates support family-friendly legislation and are committed to making this country a better place to raise children.
