NEW YORK — Vote Mama, the first PAC focused solely on electing Democratic moms, today announced its endorsement of Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, who is running for Mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“Marina Dimitrijevic is proof that when underrepresented communities have a seat at the table, our government can start working for working families. As the youngest woman ever elected in Milwaukee County history and a mother of young children, Marina is a trailblazer for young people, women, and working families. As Alderwoman, Marina has demonstrated her commitment to equality, protecting our environment, and uplifting vulnerable communities. She understands that Milwaukee’s future depends on electing progressive changemakers who will focus on creating a city where all children can thrive. I am so proud to stand with Marina and am inspired by her bold vision for Milwaukee,” said Liuba Grechen Shirley, Vote Mama Founder & CEO.

“Giving birth to my two young children while in elected office was challenging but also gave me firsthand knowledge of the work we need to do to improve childcare affordability, breastfeeding support, and birth doula access for all mothers. These are areas I have legislated on and won,” said Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic, candidate for Mayor of Milwaukee. “We need more women elected as mayors and more mamas too. Being a mommy mayor means I will always lead with a future focused lens that puts families first.”

Women, particularly moms of young children, face unique challenges when running for office. Vote Mama seeks to increase the political power of moms by stepping in to disrupt the systems that hold women back through direct financial support, mentorship, and endorsements. As with all of Vote Mama’s endorsed candidates, Marina Dimitrijevic supports family-friendly legislation and is committed to making this country a better place to raise children.
