WAUKESHA COUNTY COOLING REFUGE OPEN TODAY

(WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI) – Waukesha County is partnering with the American Red Cross and the City of Waukesha to provide a safe, cool, indoor place for refuge from the heat today.

The Schuetze Recreation Center (1120 Baxter Street, Waukesha), will be open today from 11am to 4pm.

  • Visitors can visit the Center to escape the heat and hydrate.
  • This location will also provide an opportunity for individuals to charge essential electronic devices (chargers will not be provided) due to ongoing power outages.
  • Representatives from Waukesha County Health and Human Services and the Aging and Disability Resource Center will be available on site, as well.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged.

Residents without access to air conditioning are encouraged to visit a cooling center or public space, such as a library, mall, and community or senior centers to cool off during high temperatures. For help locating a cooling center, or other resources, call 211 or visit www.211.org.
