MADISON, WISCONSIN — Wisconsin Clean Cities and RENEW Wisconsin are partnering to co-host The Future of Transportation Day at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Sept. 29, 2021.
The Future of Transportation Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the State Capitol First Floor Rotunda at 2 East Main St. in Madison, Wisconsin. An electric vehicle ride and drive will also take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard directly outside of the capitol building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A 10:30 a.m. welcome address from Representative Adam Neylon will be delivered in the rotunda.
“Wisconsin fleet managers and individual vehicle owners are embracing sustainable transportation while our industries are supporting the technologies with job creation and economic development,” Wisconsin Clean Cities Executive Director Lorrie Lisek said. “Through our DRIVE Electric Wisconsin program, Wisconsin Clean Cities is proud to partner with RENEW Wisconsin for this event to showcase all of the exciting work taking place throughout the state.”
Industry experts in the public, private and nonprofit sectors will be on-hand at booths in the first-floor rotunda to share information about how sustainable, domestic transportation fuels and vehicles are driving Wisconsin’s economy, strengthening national energy security, improving air quality and supporting the overall quality of life throughout Wisconsin.
Scheduled exhibitors include ANGI Energy Systems, Charging Cycles, Greenlots, Interstate Pump and Tank, Madison Gas and Electric, RENEW Wisconsin, Wisconsin Clean Cities, Wisconsin Traffic Operations and Safety Laboratory, Xcel Energy and Zimbrick Volkswagen of Madison.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants will also have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle during the ride and drive on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to experience their multiple benefits. Scheduled vehicles include the Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model 3 and Charging Cycle electric motorcycles.
“The Future of Transportation Day demonstrates that Wisconsin is poised to be a leader in the clean fuels industry now,” said Jeremy Orr, program manager at RENEW Wisconsin. “As our electric vehicle market continues to grow, Wisconsin is in a unique position to demonstrate its commitment to this important technology and we’re excited to showcase several electric vehicles at our ride and drive.”
