MADISON, WI- Yesterday, the Kenosha District Attorney Michael Gravely decided to not charge the officer who fired his weapon at Jacob Blake seven times in his back, leaving him paralyzed.  Upon this announcement, the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus (WLBC) released the following statement:

“The decision to use deadly force against Jacob Blake, and the decision to not prosecute the officer involved, highlights the need for meaningful change. This decision shows the blatant racial prejudices that continue to plague our systems of law enforcement, and criminal justice.”

“This has clearly been a tragedy not only for Mr. Blake and his family, but the Kenosha community and the entire state of Wisconsin. We members of the WLBC will continue to demand justice for victims of police brutality, and for reforms of our criminal justice system. The peaceful protests of our community must lead to meaningful policy”
