MADISON, Wis. — Small businesses are the backbone of America’s economy and the Biden-Harris administration has been a proven partner in helping them build back better from the COVID-19 pandemic. In dedicating the week of September 12 as Small Business Week, President Biden and Democrats across the state of Wisconsin are affirming the importance of small businesses and recognizing how they serve their communities.

Democrats’ record speaks for itself: President Biden’s American Rescue Plan has delivered billions of dollars in economic relief to millions of small businesses. In Wisconsin, Gov. Evers allocated millions of dollars to the industries that were hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic, including millions to Wisconsin’s tourism and entertainment industries and child care services. Gov. Evers also cut taxes by nearly half a billion dollars for millions of small businesses. And President Biden’s Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) provided relief to small business owners across the state, many of whom credit the Build Back Better agenda with keeping them afloat throughout the pandemic.

In celebration of Small Business Week, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Julia Hamelburg released the following statement:

“In partnership with Governor Evers and Democrats in Congress, President Biden has remained steadfast in his support of Wisconsin’s small businesses. President Biden kept his campaign promise and put words into action by signing the American Rescue Plan and putting money in the pockets of working families and small businesses. The ARP made it possible for Gov. Evers to allocate millions in federal relief to Wisconsin small businesses in every industry — from restaurants and concert venues to mental health clinics.

“This week, as Wisconsinites across the state are celebrating the small businesses that support their communities, they will not forget that every single Republican in Congress voted against the critical pandemic relief that has kept these businesses afloat.”
