Round-Up: President Biden Builds Back for the Badger State |
Madison Wis. — Today, President Biden visited Wisconsin to share how his bipartisan infrastructure package will benefit every neighborhood across the state. President Biden was joined by Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Representative Ron Kind (WI-03), Governor Evers, Mayor of La Crosse Mitch Reynolds, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler, and Laurie Nederlose, a bus driver with the La Crosse MTU.
This time last year, families were separated as a result of the pandemic, businesses were shuttering their doors, and celebrations across the state were canceled. Now, thanks to President Biden, Gov. Evers, and Democrats in Congress, families across the state are building back stronger than ever and celebrating Independence Day together.
In fact, since this time last year:
See how Wisconsinites welcomed President Biden to the state:
DPW Chair Ben Wikler: “Wisconsin’s @GovEvers tells how he ran on “fixing the darn roads,” and then got to work doing exactly that. He now has a partner in the White House who gets it!”
Rep. Ron Kind: “It’s an honor to welcome @POTUS to La Crosse today. I’m committed to working in a bipartisan manner to secure much-needed improvements to our infrastructure here in Wisconsin and I’m looking forward to discussing how these updates will benefit communities across our state.”
Senator Tammy Baldwin: “The Senate needs to take action and pass bold legislation that expands access to reliable, high-speed broadband internet to everyone in Wisconsin. @POTUS has a plan to do it so let’s get the job done.”
National Farmers Union: “We’re glad that National Farmers Union’s Vice President Patty Edelburg (@P_Edelburg) and Wisconsin Farmers Union (@wifarmersunion) President Darin Von Ruden had the opportunity to hear @POTUS talk about the American Jobs Plan today in La Crosse!”

CNN: “President Biden touts infrastructure deal in Wisconsin: ‘This bipartisan breakthrough is a great deal for the American people, not just for folks in cities, not just for red states or blue states, but for everybody’”
CBS News: “Biden touts the bipartisan infrastructure deal in Wisconsin: “This is a generational investment to modernize our infrastructure, creating millions of good-paying jobs.” He also noted that today is the anniversary of the signing of the bill that created the interstate highway.”
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: “The two plans Biden is pushing for would transform rural economies by expanding broadband internet access, which is a key hurdle in rural Wisconsin where about a quarter of rural homes lack access to high-speed internet service. The infrastructure package — which is four times the size of the infrastructure spending made in response to the Great Recession under the Obama administration — would include $110 billion for roads and bridges that would help relieve traffic and congestion that costs the economy over $160 billion annually, according to a White House memo released this week.”
