MADISON, Wis. — Just days after proudly aligning herself with Congressman Jim Jordan, who has been accused of covering up horrific abuse during his days as a wrestling coach, likely GOP gubernatorial candidate Rebecca Kleefisch endorsed Texas Senate candidate Tan Parker, who also has a problematic history of allowing inappropriate behavior in his office.
She hasn’t announced her candidacy for governor yet, but Kleefisch is already allying herself with people who clearly don’t share Wisconsin’s values. Jordan, in addition to the allegations from his former players, is also one of Trump’s most ardent supporters and voted to overturn the results of the 2020 election in an undemocratic attempt to steal power. Parker, in his role as a state representative, actively supports Texas Republicans’ voter suppression bills that greatly limit absentee voting and ban drive-through voting, among other things.
Kleefisch has been in lockstep with these efforts to undermine our elections. Kleefisch has continued to dangerously express her doubts about the election, even after the deadly Capitol insurrection. Rather than taking the opportunity to promote healing and assure her supporters that Biden had legitimately won the election, she posted a video in which she expressed concerns about rigged elections and cheating at the ballot box.
“It is abhorrent that Rebecca Kleefisch is standing alongside Jim Jordan and Tan Parker instead of calling out their inappropriate behavior,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Kayla Anderson. “She wants to run for governor – who she’s aligning herself with right now shows exactly what kind of leader she would be. Wisconsinites deserve a governor who knows right from wrong, and stands up for our state’s values.”
