COLUMBUS – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the combined state chamber and manufacturers’ association – continued its month long celebration of Wisconsin’s manufacturing industry with a tour of Columbus Chemical, Inc. (CCI) on Monday. The WMC executive team was accompanied by Wisconsin State Sen. Joan Ballweg on a tour of CCI.
“Tours like these remind us about the important role our state plays in the global economy,” said WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer. “That is why we celebrate Manufacturing Month each October. Not only do we want to showcase the critical products we make here, but it is just as important to highlight the rewarding careers available in the state’s top industry.”
Manufacturing is the number one contributor to Wisconsin’s economy. The diverse industry produces nearly $65 billion in economic output each year – close to 20 percent of the state’s total gross domestic product (GDP). This is all thanks to nearly half a million people who work at Wisconsin’s roughly 8,000 manufacturers.
CCI – based in Columbus – provides customized, engineered and high-purity products for a variety of industries.
“As a manufacturer of customized solutions for industries including the semiconductor, pharma and laboratory markets, we are proud of CCI’s team members who meet the demanding requirements of our customers’ every day,” said CCI President & CEO Randy Eppli. “Founded in Wisconsin, CCI continues to rely on its strong manufacturing culture so we can build on 43 years of success.”
To celebrate Manufacturing Month, WMC has partnered with Johnson Financial Group to host the sixth annual Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin contest. Additionally, WMC will be touring multiple manufacturing companies across the state, promoting various Manufacturing Month events, engaging in a robust social media campaign and releasing a number of videos throughout October.
