ManpowerGroup announces 39 percent emissions reduction

ManpowerGroup says it has cut operational emissions 39 percent from 2019 levels, bringing the company over halfway to its goal of 60 percent reductions by 2030.  This reduction was highlighted in the Milwaukee-based company’s 2021-2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance report. ManpowerGroup also plans to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2045 or sooner, the report shows.  Along with the direct emissions target, its 2030 goals include reducing emissions by 30 percent for its entire “value chain,” which includes more elements of its business model.  Some of the actions the company is taking to meet these goals include: minimizing business travel, boosting

New research from Exact Sciences shows screening for multiple cancer indicators at the same time can improve detection in earlier stages of the disease. Milwaukee area economy slows in July, report shows

The Milwaukee area’s economy slowed in July, according to the latest economic trends report from the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.  The report shows 10 of the 22 economic indicators in July saw improvement over the year. That’s the first time less than half of these data points improved over the year since March 2021, according to Bret Mayborne, economic research vice president for MMAC.  “While nonfarm jobs continue to post year-over-year gains and the metro area unemployment rate continues to decline, improvements to both indicators have slowed over the course of 2022,” Mayborne said in the report.  In each

UW Health nurses call for union recognition on Labor Day

UW Health nurses argue patient care is suffering as fewer and less experienced nurses are being asked to shoulder a greater burden.  Speaking over the weekend at a news conference organized by advocates for unionization, UW Health nurse Shari Signer said cuts to staffing ratios and benefits as well as nurse training hours have strained an already dwindling workforce. Wisconsin Elections Commission: Action regarding corrections on absentee ballot envelopes

MADISON, Wis. – In response to a recent temporary injunction from the Waukesha County Circuit Court in White v. WEC, members of the Wisconsin Elections Commission met Tuesday, September 13, and voted to withdraw two memos regarding clerk corrections on absentee certificate envelopes that are missing a witness address or have an insufficient witness address. On Wednesday, September 14, the WEC sent a communication to municipal and county clerks alerting them of the Commission’s action and of the injunction. MILWAUKEE — A new Marquette Law School Poll survey of Wisconsin voters finds close races for governor and for the U.S. Senate. Among likely voters, in his race for reelection, Sen.
