(WAUKESHA, WI) – Waukesha County Public Works is planning to replace the culvert structure on County Highway K at Pewaukee River Tributary in the Village of Sussex. The project site is located on CTH K just east of State Highway 164. Construction is expected to begin on October 5, 2022 and conclude 21 days later.   During construction, CTH K (Lisbon Road) will be closed to traffic at the project location. MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced the opening of the new accessible Nicolet Beach Playground at Peninsula State Park. In May 2021, the aging wooden playground at the park’s Nicolet Beach was deemed unsafe and beyond repair. Janesville, Wis. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) sent a letter today to Andrew Nikou, founder and CEO of OpenGate Capital, asking the Los Angeles-based private equity firm to honor their agreement with former Hufcor employees in Wisconsin. After laying off all 166 workers at Hufcor’s Janesville plant, OpenGate Capital drove the company into bankruptcy leaving workers without the health coverage and pay they were promised. “As a result of your mismanagement, dozens of former Hufcor workers—some of whom have life-threatening illnesses—are without health coverage,” wrote Senator Baldwin. “Others never received the retention bonuses they were promised in exchange for continuing
