Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections: RITE stops Wisconsin officials from carrying out unlawful re-voting procedures

Washington, D.C. – For the second time in two months, RITE-supported Plaintiffs have secured a court order invalidating unlawful guidance the Wisconsin Elections Commission (“WEC”) used to administer elections in the Badger State. Last time, WEC was caught authorizing election officials to alter ballot certifications without voter input. This time, WEC was enabling “re-voting” by absentee voters who change their minds after submitting their ballot. As the Plaintiff argued, WEC’s guidance violates the state election code, creates a system of unfair and unequal treatment of voters, and sows the seeds of voter fraud and confusion. The court ordered WEC to

Democratic Governors Association: Tim Michels’ history of hiding his extremism

A new report from the Associated Press highlights how Wisconsin GOP gubernatorial nominee Tim Michels has a long history of hiding or attempting to change his extreme views on major issues, including his support for Wisconsin’s 1849 law banning abortion without exceptions for rape or incest.  For most of the election cycle, Michels was vehement that if elected governor, he would support an “exact mirror” of Wisconsin’s 1849 law, he wouldn’t commit to protecting contraception, and the last time he ran for office, he signed a pledge supporting a constitutional amendment that would have banned abortion nationwide.  Now that he’s secured his MAGA base, he is
