Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections: RITE stops Wisconsin officials from carrying out unlawful re-voting procedures
Washington, D.C. – For the second time in two months, RITE-supported Plaintiffs have secured a court order invalidating unlawful guidance the Wisconsin Elections Commission (“WEC”) used to administer elections in the Badger State. Last time, WEC was caught authorizing election officials to alter ballot certifications without voter input. This time, WEC was enabling “re-voting” by absentee voters who change their minds after submitting their ballot. As the Plaintiff argued, WEC’s guidance violates the state election code, creates a system of unfair and unequal treatment of voters, and sows the seeds of voter fraud and confusion.
