WisDems: GOP attorney general nominee Eric Toney has a low conviction rate for domestic violence, records show

MADISON, Wis – Today, UpNorthNews reported that prosecution data showed Eric Toney has a history of low conviction rates in domestic violence cases, securing felony convictions in just 23% of cases.  “According to records, in Toney’s first six years as district attorney, 48% of domestic abuse cases that came to his office were not prosecuted or resulted in no conviction. There were more than 1,000 domestic abuse cases that Toney chose not to prosecute. Of the 428 cases that Toney prosecuted as felonies, only 20% resulted in felony convictions. The rest were reduced to misdemeanors or suspended sentences.” Read more about Eric Toney’s failures as District Attorney

Those interested in heading onto the Lake Winnebago ice this winter for sturgeon spearing need to purchase their license by Monday, Oct. 31. The City of Madison Clerk’s Office invites the public to observe its public test of election equipment this weekend. Prior to each election, the Clerk’s Office staff tests its DS200 tabulators to make sure they will accurately count votes on Election Day.
