U.S. Sen. Johnson: Votes against massive omnibus spending bill

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released the following statement after voting against final passage of the 4,000+ page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill that was fast-tracked through the Senate without proper consideration. “The Omnibus that just passed in the Senate is an abomination. There is no way anyone had time to read all 4,155 pages, much less comprehend how the massive deficit spending and major policy elements will negatively impact Americans. This takes Washington dysfunction and cynicism to an entirely new level. We were unable to amend the bill to eliminate at least $11 billion in earmarks

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today applauded the work of The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) in their new policy report, “The Mysterious TikTok-ing Noise.” The report recaps the meteoric rise of the China Communist Party (CCP) controlled app, TikTok, and recounts the invasive ways that the software records data from its users. The report also strongly recommends that Wisconsin take heed of federal warnings and follow other states’ practices in prohibiting the app from government-owned devices. “TikTok is Chinese Communist Party spyware and belongs nowhere near government devices,” said Rep. Dane County Emergency Management: Winter storm warning safety tips

While the snow fall was limited and continues to fall slowly, we are concerned with the extreme cold and wind that will follow. Heavy winds are expected throughout the next two days, it does not take a large amount of snow to create drifting concerns and drastic changes in road conditions.  SLOW DOWN and DO NOT pass snow plows!  Passing snow plows places both the snow plow operators and other drivers at risk.  The drifting snow can

GOP to gather in mid-July for 2024 national convention in Milwaukee

The RNC has announced the 2024 national convention in Milwaukee will run July 15-18, the earliest the party will meet to formally select its presidential nominee since 1980. Yesterday’s announcement formally kicked off the countdown until the convention rolls into Wisconsin’s largest city. Milwaukee also was set to host the national Democratic convention in 2020 but that fizzled because of the pandemic. Under then-Chair Reince Priebus, an RNC postmortem on the 2012 presidential race recommended moving the national convention to earlier in the summer. The reasoning cited in that report included allowing the nominee more time to begin the general

Gov. Evers: Signs Executive Order declaring an energy emergency

MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Tony Evers today signed Executive Order #181 declaring an energy emergency in the state of Wisconsin. Due to the below-average temperatures, accumulating and blowing snow throughout the state, deliveries of liquid fuels for home heating shipped by truck, barge, and particularly rail, are limited. Additionally, since Wisconsin had several weather-related power outages recently, and more could occur from this weather event due to downed trees and ice on lines, eliminating barriers for energy emergency responders is essential, especially for out-of-state line workers. Executive Order #181 will allow for the swift and efficient delivery of fuel products, as
