AARP has been fighting to protect the rights of all Americans 50+ to vote freely, easily
and safely for more than 35 years. We have long advocated for fair and straightforward
election procedures that help increase the participation of voters aged 50 and older. To
that end, we are encouraged by the court’s decision directing the state elections
commission to uphold the rights of voters and provide guidance to municipal clerks
regarding access of these voters under the federal voting rights act. “We are pleased to
see that the court is taking a common sense approach to make sure people are not
disenfranchised and we hope and expect that the elections commission will provide
reasonable guidance that protects voters’ access to elections in Wisconsin.”
