MADISON, Wis. – Agrace President and CEO Lynne Sexten has joined the board of directors of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO). Effective January 1, 2022, Sexten will serve on the board for three years, among other executives across the country.

NHPCO is the nation’s largest membership organization for providers and professionals who care for people affected by serious and life-limiting illness. Its members include local hospice and palliative care providers, networks serving large regions of the United States and individual professionals.

In an introductory letter, NHPCO President and CEO Edo Banach thanked Sexten for her ongoing support of NHPCO and leadership for hospice and palliative care.

“At a time when there is so much change on the horizon for the hospice and palliative care industry, I am excited to become part of the governing body of such an important and influential organization that advocates on our behalf and keeps our patients at the center of its efforts,” said Sexten.

Sexten, FACHE, has been president and CEO of Agrace since 2012. She came to Agrace from Unity Point Health – Meriter in Madison where she served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Under Sexten’s leadership, Agrace has grown to include four additional health services that complement its hospice program and has expanded its service area from five to 18 counties.

As a leader in health care, Sexten specializes in managing operations with a specific expertise in strategic business planning in the evolving healthcare market. She is active in the community, serving on local and national boards and committees, including the Wisconsin Hospice & Palliative Care Association, NHPCO and the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI). She has been recognized for her leadership, receiving numerous awards, including being named one of Madison’s 25 Most Influential People in 2015.

Sexten holds a master’s degree in health administration and a bachelor’s degree in biomedical communications from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is certified as a fellow of the America College of Healthcare Executives.
