Madison Alder Nasra Wehelie was appointed to the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board of Directors bringing her experience to the organization’s statewide governing body. The League was founded in 1898 and is comprised of more than 600 members – large and small cities and villages representing both urban and rural Wisconsin.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board,” said Wehelie.

In 2022 the League’s 16-member Board will be working to set the strategic direction for the League at a critical time in the organization’s history. Cities and villages are facing challenging circumstances not only due to the pandemic, but Wisconsin municipalities also face a dire need to update aging infrastructure and provide vital services, including police and fire services, to their residents.

Alder Nasra Wehelie serves the constituents of District 7 on the Madison Common Council. She is committed to serving her district and city at a higher capacity to make meaningful changes. Nasra has experience in strategies to organize individuals for collective action to make sure all voices are heard. She is a leader who understands the issues at hand, listens to the constituent’s problems and advocates for them and is a consensus builder who can reach out to others. Nasra is also the founder/CEO of Empathy 4 Equity LLC.  Her organization aims to develop strategies for building a Culture of Empathy within organizations to better connect with employees and their communities. Her consulting business supports the deep alignment between individual and organizational aspiration and daily practices though the lens of Diversity, Empathy, Equity and Inclusion. Nasra combines her passion for social change with a practical results-orientation.
