WAUKESHA – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin is endorsing Rebecca Kleefisch in her campaign to become Wisconsin’s first female governor. ABC President John Mielke and many ABC members accompanied Kleefisch on visits to two member locations to make the announcements on Thursday — Quality Insulators, Inc. in Green Bay and PGA, Inc. in Weston near Wausau.
In announcing the endorsement, Mielke highlighted Kleefisch’s common-sense efforts.
“I had the honor of working with Rebecca Kleefisch for nearly two years when she served as ABC of Wisconsin’s jobs ambassador,” Mielke said. “During that time, I had the opportunity to see her integrity firsthand. I experienced how she dealt with complex issues that affect those who are literally building Wisconsin. She did great things as Wisconsin’s Lt. Gov., she did great things at ABC, and she will do great things as the next governor of the state of Wisconsin.”
Kleefisch served as host of the ABC of Wisconsin micro-video series called Money Jobs, sharing success stories of individuals who have pursued construction as a career. In addition to working with ABC of Wisconsin promoting careers in construction, Kleefisch is the former executive director of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, where she led the country’s efforts to commemorate and educate Americans about the 100th anniversary of women earning the right to vote. She was also Wisconsin Lt. Gov., from 2011 to 2019, where she championed workforce and economic development.
“Unlike many politicians these days, she cares about people, she cares about our business, and she is dedicated to getting Wisconsin back on the right track,” Mielke added.
Kleefisch commented on the endorsement, saying: “Wisconsin’s workers are our greatest natural resource. Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin knows that, as governor, I’ll invest in Wisconsin’s skilled workforce by increasing trades and vocational training, apprenticeship programs, and talent attraction. I’m grateful to have the support of ABC and the thousands of Wisconsin workers and business owners they represent.”
