Milwaukee (July 26, 2022) – The Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (MDSA) has endorsed law enforcement executive Brian Barkow in the August 9 Democratic primary for Milwaukee County Sheriff.
“The Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs’ Association is proud to endorse Inspector Brian Barkow for Milwaukee County Sheriff,” said MDSA President Fredrick Gladney. “The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is in desperate need of innovative leadership to ensure deputy safety, restore morale, and end the crisis in the county jail. Brian Barkow is the most qualified candidate to get the job done in a way that lives up to our community’s trust.”
“I am honored by the trust, support, and endorsement of the courageous public servants who protect our parks, freeways, courts, and airport,” responded Barkow. “I am proud to call them my colleagues, and I am committed to leading a Sheriff’s Office united behind a shared mission: to serve and protect with integrity. As sheriff, I will work with all our deputies to advance a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace dedicated to serving our community.”
Barkow is a decorated commander, trusted reformer, and proven crime fighter. He is the only candidate with substantive plans to reduce violent crime, address reckless driving, and end the safety and staffing crisis in the troubled Milwaukee County Jail. In 24 years as a certified law enforcement and jail officer in the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Barkow has served as a deputy sheriff, sergeant, captain, deputy inspector, and inspector and currently commands the elite Investigative Services Bureau.
