Dem U.S. Senate candidate Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes released a new digital ad slamming Johnson for his role in the attempt to deliver alternate electors to Pence.
The spot is part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign. A spokesperson for the Barnes campaign declined to provide more specific numbers and said the ad will run across the state, but wouldn’t provide further details.
The ad opens with footage of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. It also shows news reports following a Jan. 6 committee hearing that revealed text messages between Johnson’s chief of staff and Pence’s legislative director.
“Johnson wanted to hand-deliver a fake slate of electors for Wisconsin,” a reporter says.
The spot shows Johnson saying his involvement “lasted seconds” and closes with “Ron Johnson can’t be trusted” written in white against a black background.
