MADISON — Today, AFT-Wisconsin joined SEIU Wisconsin State Council, AFSCME Council 32, IBEW 2150, AFT 212, and over 160 state and local leaders across Wisconsin in endorsing Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes for U.S. Senate.
“Since the start of his career as an organizer, Mandela Barnes has always been driven by doing the right thing for Wisconsin’s working families,” said AFT-Wisconsin President Kim Kohlhaas. “AFT-Wisconsin is proud to stand with Mandela, the son of a public school teacher and a third shift auto worker with an unparalleled record of fighting for fairness, opportunity, and democracy.”
“The fight to defeat Ron Johnson requires all of us to come together, and I couldn’t be prouder to have AFT-Wisconsin by my side,” said Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, candidate for U.S. Senate. “I got my start in politics fighting to protect our unions and our public schools. In the Senate, I’ll continue to be a proud advocate for Wisconsin’s teachers, schools, and public service workers to ensure that every one of us has a fair shot at the American Dream.”
