MADISON — Today, Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate released “APB,” a new ad highlighting Ron Johnson’s support for a national abortion ban and cosponorship of a bill that would criminalize doctors. The ad is a part of a multi-million dollar ad campaign on broadcast, cable, and digital throughout the state.

Ron Johnson has worked against reproductive freedom throughout the course of his career in the Senate. He co-sponsored eight abortion bans, including ones that listed criminal penalties for doctors. One was a personhood bill that held no exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the woman.

Johnson also worked to confirm judges who want to ban abortion and restrict contraception and told people they “can move” if they don’t like the laws in their state. After Roe v. Wade was overturned, he said it was the “correct decision,” calling it “a victory.”

I’m Mandela Barnes and I approve this message.

“All units, all units. Approaching an abortion at Central Hospital. Officers needed to detain doctor.”

“If Ron Johnson has his way, he wouldn’t just ban abortions.”

“Doctors could go to jail for it. And Johnson’s tried for over a decade.”

“He even cosponsored a bill with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the woman, and said if women don’t like an abortion ban, they can just move.”

“But it’s Ron Johnson who doesn’t belong in Wisconsin.”
