MADISON — Today, the U.S. Senate passed bipartisan gun safety legislation. In response, U.S. Senate candidate Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes released the following statement.

“Today’s passage of the bipartisan gun safety bill was a monumental step towards keeping our communities safe – and it couldn’t come at a more critical time. As the Supreme Court loosens common sense gun reforms for the first time in a decade, we need leaders in the Senate who will step up and do the right thing to protect our communities.

“Once again, Ron Johnson has failed to serve Wisconsinites in favor of prioritizing his wealthy gun lobby donors. In the Senate, I’ll build on the progress of this legislation and continue the fight to end gun violence.”
