MADISON — Today, United Auto Workers (UAW) Wisconsin State CAP announced its endorsement of Lt. Governor and U.S. Senate candidate Mandela Barnes.
“My story wouldn’t be possible without the family-sustaining wages guaranteed by the UAW,” said Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, candidate for U.S. Senate. “But today, my story is an exception. Opportunities like the one I had thanks to my dad’s job working third shift on the assembly line are harder and harder to come by. We need to bring manufacturing back to Wisconsin to create good-paying, family-sustaining jobs that open doors of opportunity for everyone. I’m so proud to have UAW with me in this fight.”
“We are so proud to endorse Mandela Barnes, the son of a UAW family, to fight for us in the U.S. Senate,” said Andrew Stark, President of Brewery Workers Local 9 UAW. “While Ron Johnson was all too happy to ship 1,000 good-paying UAW jobs out of the state, Mandela Barnes has never failed to show up and fight for workers. UAW Wisconsin State CAP knows we can trust Mandela to go to the mat for us in Washington, and we are proud to stand with him in this fight.”
Mandela was previously endorsed by AFSCME Council 32, SEIU Wisconsin State Council, AFT-Wisconsin, Wisconsin AFL-CIO, AFT Local 212, and a coalition of more than a dozen prominent labor leaders across Wisconsin.
