HALES CORNERS—LuAnn Bird invites the public to a “Meet the Candidate” fundraising
event on Wednesday, July 27 at 5:00 pm at Open Flame Restaurant (5081 S 108th St,
Greenfield, WI 53228). LuAnn is running as a Democrat in the evenly split 84th
Assembly District, which covers Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners and part of
Milwaukee.

Rep. Christine Sinicki, Rep. Evan Goyke, Milwaukee County Board Member Joe
Czarnezki, and Greenfield School Board Member Rob Hansen are co-hosts.

Bird is running to bring civility to the political process so that legislators can get to work on
solving problems that Wisconsinites actually care about. After her husband Phil was
permanently paralyzed in a tragic construction accident 32 years ago, she turned
challenges into opportunities for change. In addition to becoming an advocate for persons
with disabilities, LuAnn has led changes on many of the issues including going toe-to-toe
with the NRA in Wisconsin and being a stalwart supporter of voting rights.

LuAnn lives in Hales Corners with her husband Phil who is a Vietnam veteran. They have
two grown children and for the past 10 years have provided daycare for their grandsons.
She worked as executive director and lobbyist for the League of Women Voters of
Wisconsin, a fund developer for a poverty agency and as a board governance consultant for
the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and the Alabama Association of School Boards
in Montgomery.
