Milwaukee — Black Leaders Organizing for Communities is excited to announce our endorsed candidates for the 2022 fall election. The critical moment we face in this election is clear. The candidates we are endorsing have been vocal on the need to make our Democracy work for all Wisconsinites, regardless of where we live or what we look like.

“In the aftermath of 2020, the needs and demands of the Black community are clear, an end to status quo politics that place our communities on the backburner. We are proud to support candidates that align with our values; values like investing in our communities and restorative justice that we hear everyday knocking our communities doors.” said BLOC Executive Director Angela Lang.

BLOC endorsed Darrin Madison for Wisconsin Assembly-District 10; Angelito Tenorio for State Treasurer, Sara Rodriguez for Lt. Governor, and Alexia Sabor for Secretary of State.

Darrin is a Milwaukee native, an organizer who has been doing impactful work bringing the community together to deliver community oriented policy solutions to the challenges we face. Angelito is a current Alder in West Allis, a veteran, and an organizer in the fight against the policies that are furthering climate change. Sara is currently serving the 13th District in the State Assembly. As a healthcare provider and executive, Sara has been a leader in the state in the fight for reproductive rights and body autonomy. Alexia is Chair of the Dane County Democratic Party, and in that capacity she’s worked to increase diversity within the county party, strengthen outreach to rural communities, and grow a network of 22 grassroots neighborhood action teams.

“The role BLOC plays in Black communities throughout Southeastern Wisconsin is invaluable,”said Angelito Tenorio. “I’m proud to be a BLOC endorsed candidate, from the mission, to the innovative Ambassador program, I am looking forward to continuing my partnership with BLOC as Wisconsin’s next Treasurer.”

BLOC is a non-profit advocacy organization that empowers Black community members throughout Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
