Ten years ago, I won my first campaign for elected office, marking the beginning of my season of public service. From the Milwaukee County Board to the State Assembly, serving the people of my community has been the honor of my life, and one of the greatest gifts that I have ever received. We’ve been through some tough fights together, and I do not regret a single one of them.

At this time, my current season of public service is drawing to a close. Earlier today, I made the very difficult decision to end my campaign for the Democratic nomination for Lieutenant Governor of the State of Wisconsin. This decision was not one I made lightly, and it is with a heavy heart that I have chosen to bring this campaign to a close. Simply put, the time was not right as I am still in the process of grieving. I’ve seen others go through campaigns while suffering the loss of loved ones, but this reminds me that I am not at my full potential to serve the great State of Wisconsin at my highest capability. I want to thank all my supporters for their passion, their dollars, their words of kindness & encouragement, and their strong belief in me. I do not take any of it for granted and I look forward to making up for it.

We have an important midterm election ahead of us and I have no doubt that Governor Evers and Democrats around this state are what we need to unify and move this state forward. Our party represents the best hope for working people, families, and everyone across our state, and I know that we will bring a positive, progressive message to the ballot this fall that will resonate with voters in communities from Superior to Kenosha and everywhere in between.

I love this state with all my heart, and it has been an honor to serve in elected office over the last ten years. I am not certain yet what will come next for me, but I trust in God’s plan, and I wholeheartedly put my future in His hands.
