EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – Today, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 (IUPAT DC7) announced the endorsement of Rebecca Cooke for Congress in Wisconsin’s Third District. IUPAT DC7 is an affiliate of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, AFL-CIO, and represents painters, glaziers, drywall finishers, sign and display workers, paint makers and public sector workers throughout the state of Wisconsin.

“Rebecca represents the best of Western Wisconsin with a commitment to our heritage of strong local communities and helping our neighbors. We need public servants in Washington, DC who will be a good steward of our hard-earned taxpayer dollars, not a politician interested in dividing us. We also need public servants who know the value of hard work, and as the daughter of a farmer, she understands that well. Rebecca knows the value union members and contractors provide to Wisconsin and the USA. We are proud to stand with her,” said Jeff Mehrhoff, La Crosse native and Business Manager of IUPAT DC7.

“As the product of a proud union family, I am honored to have IUPAT DC7 by our side in this race,” Rebecca said. “It is critical that everyone has access to safe working conditions, good pay and benefits, health care coverage and pensions, and the economic security made possible by unions. With organized labor under attack, this moment calls for leaders who share our values and are willing to take on this fight in Congress to help every Wisconsinite realize their fullest potential.”

The only WI-03 candidate from a working-class background, Rebecca has also earned endorsements from IAFF Local 484, IAFF Local 487, former Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Interior and head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Ada Deer, longtime rural community organizer Bill Hogseth, and small business owners across Western Wisconsin.
