After Tim Michels tried yet again to hide his extreme stance on abortion, his campaign clarified yesterday that Michels would allow DAs to enforce Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban that would throw women and doctors behind bars.

“The [district attorneys] should enforce all laws,”said Michels’ spokesperson Anna Kelly when asked for clarification on Michels’ flip-flopping stance.

Michels, a self-described “man who doesn’t waffle,” has said he would support an “exact mirror” of Wisconsin’s 1849 law but has tried to back off from this out-of-touch position since winning the GOP nomination.

But his campaign’s latest comments confirm that Michels would stand by and allow the dangerous abortion ban to be enforced. Under the ban, doctors who perform abortions could be found guilty of a felony, punishable by up to six years in prison.

“Despite the desperate attempts to hide his extremism, Tim Michels still supports the radical law he’s supported for decades to ban abortion and jail doctors,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisory Christina Amestoy. “Take his campaign’s word for it — Tim Michels wants to see doctors who perform abortions behind bars.”
