Evers to deliver State of the State Feb. 7, looking at two dates for budget address

Gov. Tony Evers plans to deliver his annual State of the State address Feb. 7.

Meanwhile, he’s asked GOP legislative leaders to keep open Feb. 28 or March 7 for his budget address.

But Jenny Toftness, the chief of staff to Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, wrote in a text message to WisPolitics.com, “We will consider the governor’s request, but those dates probably won’t work.”

Evers sent a letter to lawmakers last week outlining his preferred dates. Evers indicated he’d be available Feb. 28 or March 7 to release his budget, but his preference is to do it March 7.
