MADISON – Sue Todey has been named as the Executive Director of the Fair Aid Coalition, a statewide organization established in 1981 to advocate on behalf of high property value school districts at the State Capitol. Coalition membership is comprised primarily of rural lake area, K-8, Union High School, and suburban school districts.

Todey will work with the coalition’s Board of Directors and Legislative Counsel Kelly McDowell to establish and promote the coalition’s state school finance objectives, including the establishment of a $1,000 per pupil minimum state aid guarantee as part of the equalization aid formula. Todey said a minimum state aid is needed to prevent ongoing decreases in state support that shift public education costs in high property value school districts to local property taxpayers. The coalition also works to support increases in categorical aid, especially high cost transportation and special education to help
ensure access to quality educational opportunity for students.

Todey is also the immediate past president of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards’ 15-member Board of Directors and Fair Aid Coalition Board of Directors, chairs the CESA 7 (Cooperative Educational Service Agency) Board of Control, and serves on the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance Board. She has been a member of the Sevastopol School Board for 16 years.
