MADISON— Fair Elections Project Director Sachin Chheda released the following statement in response to the Fair Maps Constitutional Amendment proposed in the legislature today:
“The Fair Elections Project supports the idea of enshrining the Wisconsin version of the so-called ‘Iowa Model’ in the State Constitution. This would ensure that the process to draw the maps is taken out of the hands of politicians.
“We also believe the State Constitution already prohibits partisan gerrymandering and look forward to state courts taking up that issue in coming years.”
